Our favorite afternoons

On Wednesdays we grab our favorite Gunn & Swain blanket, stop by Starbucks and head to the park with Lola. It doesn’t happen every week, sometimes I have a shoot and sometimes Adam has to be in the store but most weeks we make it happen and it’s one of our favorite things. Lola loves it because she’s obsessed with her ball and being outside. We love it because we get a sweet treat from Starbucks and get to read in peace (after we’ve exhausted Lola from playing, of course). It’s nothing crazy or wildly exciting but we’ve realized that it’s the little things, like going to a local park together, that makes us really happy.

What are some things you like to do with your significant other/family? We’d love to hear!

Surprise Date Day / Glamping

Honestly, Adam rocks. He is the master at planning surprise date days, and all other date days for that matter, but this one takes the cake.

One day he planned a date day(s) and told me to pack something casual, active and warm. Now, I don’t care what genre you tell me, I just want to wear a dress. Lucky for me, when he came to pick me up he told me to put on pants. So, before we left he asked if I could pick up a few things at the store; garlic, a tomato, onion and sirloin steak….now, one would think this was a dead camping giveaway, but to me (the girl who does not camp) I thought maybe we were airbnb-n it! It wasn’t until we clearly passed Santa Barbara that I knew something fishy was up. We turned into El Capitan Canyon, parked, and as we were walking to the lodge to check in (to what? I had no clue) Adam pointed to a tent and said, “We’re staying in that”. I. Was. Ecstatic. “We’re GLAMPING?!” I very excitedly said. This guy. He knows me too well.

We cooked up steak and veggies, ate cheese and drank wine around the campfire and had an encounter with a little skunk friend. All in all it was perfection.

Here are some details about the campsite.

We stayed HERE

For the tent it was $150 a night. If you’re staying for the weekend there’s a minimum two nights stay. They also have cabins and yurts.

You can buy BBQ and s’mores kits (or just bring your own stuff)

There are a couple little hiking trails (I say little because even the most amateur hiker, like me, can do it.

Here are a mixture of film and iPhone shots from our trip. We stopped in Santa Barbara on our way home and walked around the beautiful little town.            El Capitan Canyon Glamping - Megan Welker Photography 001 El Capitan Canyon Glamping - Megan Welker Photography 002 El Capitan Canyon Glamping - Megan Welker Photography 003 El Capitan Canyon Glamping - Megan Welker Photography 004 El Capitan Canyon Glamping - Megan Welker Photography 005 El Capitan Canyon Glamping - Megan Welker Photography 006 El Capitan Canyon Glamping - Megan Welker Photography 007 El Capitan Canyon Glamping - Megan Welker Photography 008 El Capitan Canyon Glamping - Megan Welker Photography 009 El Capitan Canyon Glamping - Megan Welker Photography 010 El Capitan Canyon Glamping - Megan Welker Photography 011 El Capitan Canyon Glamping - Megan Welker Photography 012 El Capitan Canyon Glamping - Megan Welker Photography 013 El Capitan Canyon Glamping - Megan Welker Photography 014 El Capitan Canyon Glamping - Megan Welker Photography 015 El Capitan Canyon Glamping - Megan Welker Photography 016 El Capitan Canyon Glamping - Megan Welker Photography 017 El Capitan Canyon Glamping - Megan Welker Photography 018 El Capitan Canyon Glamping - Megan Welker Photography 019 El Capitan Canyon Glamping - Megan Welker Photography 020 El Capitan Canyon Glamping - Megan Welker Photography 021 El Capitan Canyon Glamping - Megan Welker Photography 022 El Capitan Canyon Glamping - Megan Welker Photography 023 El Capitan Canyon Glamping - Megan Welker Photography 024 El Capitan Canyon Glamping - Megan Welker Photography 025 El Capitan Canyon Glamping - Megan Welker Photography 026 El Capitan Canyon Glamping - Megan Welker Photography 027 El Capitan Canyon Glamping - Megan Welker Photography 028

What I’m loving / St Tropez Tanning Mousse

bravwel-dwell-3

I don’t know about you but for me having a tan makes me feel about a million times better (and like 10 lbs skinner!) This summer has already been so nuts that I haven’t had a lot of time to just go relax on the beach and work on my tan so I’ve enlisted the help a sunless self tanner. I’ve heard excellent things about all St Tropez products so I decided to give it a try. I was nervous to try it being a self tanner virgin and all but it was SO easy guys, really!

bravwel-dwell-5I love the tanning mousse so much and having the tanning mitt was really helpful. There’s nothing worse than self tanner hands, yuck. Start with a little bit of mousse on the mitt, you can always add more as you go.

bravwel-dwell-30Make sure you blend in circular motions. You can go over one spot more than once if you need to later since you’ll be able to see where you’re blending. The aloe in the mousse makes it really moisturizing and your skin ends up looking so natural and golden. bravwel-dwell-27

Make sure you wait until your skin is touch dry before getting dressed. I recommend putting on something really light and nothing too constricting after applying. And remember, you can’t get wet for 4-6 hours. They suggest applying before bed and sleeping overnight in it, just be sure to have sheets on that you don’t care that much about. bravwel-dwell-28

I woke up this morning with the prettiest golden glow and know that over the next couple of days it’s going to just get richer. I highly suggest this mousse guys, give it a try and let me know what you think of it! bravwel-dwell-25

Our Wedding / Hiring a Coordinator

I’m a day late BUT I wanted to talk today about the importance of hiring a wedding coordinator/planner. Waaaay before we even got engaged I knew I was going to hire a coordinator one way or another. I’ve been to enough weddings to know that having one is 1,081,932,387% worth it and I wanted to make sure that our wedding runs as smoothly as possible. Fast forward to our engagement and the wedding planning process, the Beijos girls and I had been working together for about six months by then and I loved them, loved their vibe and I knew we would be the perfect fit…and boy was I right! We got engaged in November, finally booked our venue in January and are getting married in exactly six weeks from today and guys, for being such a short engagement it’s been a pretty damn smooth process. Yes, I’ve had a few breakdowns but they are NOTHING compared to the breakdowns I would have been having without these ladies. They are the ones I can complain to about wedding related things without annoying all of my friends and the ones to brainstorm with about fun and creative ideas for the big day. I am so incredibly thankful for them and am so looking forward to the wedding day and celebrating all of our hard work together!

If you’re in the process of planning your own wedding, do yourself a favor and look into hiring a coordinator, even if it’s just a day of. Trust me, it’s worth every single penny!

It may or may not be the best thing about this time of year, in my opinion. I told Adam I wanted to find some to shoot with and dang, he couldn’t have found a better patch!

But let’s just talk about my jumper, yes, it’s a jumper! Tricked you, right? Usually jumpers/rompers don’t work for me (big thighs, you know) but this breezy, flowy one is just perfect and I love how comfortable and dress-like it is. It can be easily paired with some cute gold sandals for daytime wear and dressed up with a pair of heels like these Dolce Vita platforms. Adam looks handsome in everything he wears, so there’s that. It was the perfect outfit combo for a date night with my favorite guy.
