Friday Favorites

IMG_6067Hey guys, Adam here. I’m currently in London and enjoying the cool weather here in England. Such a nice change from the scorching heat of LA. It’s been a busy week but I’m really enjoying this trip. What are you guys up to this weekend?

About six months ago Megan and I picked up a really great old Shakespeare print from the flea market and we recently finally got it framed. We were really happy with what Framebridge did with it. Looking forward to using them again!

I picked up these jogger pants from J Crew and I’m looking forward to wearing them while in England.

Pumpkin munchkins are back!! So glad October is finally here.

I’m hoping to stop by The Clove Club for a bite.

Sir John Soane’s museum is a must do while in London.

I hate flying but it always helps to have an audio book to get me through it. “The Girl in the Spider’s Web” is the fourth installment of the Millennium series. Stieg Larsson was such a great author but David Lagercrantz does a good job.

It is such a crazy week but am hoping to make to see The Martian when I get back home. Rotten Tomatoes seems to like it!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Fall Style

meganwelker-bravwelstyle-16meganwelker-bravwelstyle-19  meganwelker-bravwelstyle-6So lately the weather in SoCal has been anything but cold. It’s freaking HOT! But fall is here and i’m trying to transition into more of an autumn style (without sweating to death). I think a chambray (J. Crew) is a great essential piece that works in every season. At work you have to be able to look nice but also willing to move a giant couch with out breaking a sweat… yea right. So a solid pair of utility chinos (Club Monaco) are a must. Paired with a vintage watch and leather belt (Club Monaco), you should be good to go for the hot October month.

How cat purrs can heal

Found this funny infographic describing how a cat purr can cure cancer….well not really but it can make you feel a little better. Plus we like infographics so why not share it. Purrrrr…

“Pet therapy is apparently gaining momentum in many medical communities, and according to Animal Planet’s website, there is scientific research that suggests pet owners live longer than those without pets.

It seems that our own animals have the ability to relieve us of our troubles, or at least make our worries seem less important. The bond between pets and their owners may never be fully understood (cats in particular have always struck me as magical and mysterious–and now they have healing powers?!) but it’s nice to know having a furry confidant around can add years to our lives. ”

Everyday is a new adventure for food at the Bravwel Casa. Well…mostly we just order pizza but once in a while when we’re feeling brave we decide to cook something. We had this great dish at a local restaurant in West Hollywood and figured it’s perfect for when you’re not feeling like a salad for lunch. For an easy quinoa bowl follow the recipe below

Ingredients –

  • One handful of Arugula
  • 1-2 boneless chicken breasts
  • 1-2 roma tomatoes,  quartered
  • 1 avocado, chopped (about 2 cups)
  • One handful of cilantro
  • A handful of your choice of cheese
  • 1 cup of Quinoa
  • Coarse salt and freshly ground pepper
  • Sriracha for serving

Directions –

Cook 1 cup of Quinoa

  • Stir in 2 cups of water or broth and the salt. Bring to a rolling boil.
  • Turn heat down to the lowest setting. Cover and cook for 15 minutes.
  • Remove the pot from heat and let stand for 5 more minutes, covered.

While Quinoa cooks prepare the additional ingredients. Chop the tomato, cilantro, and avocado.

Prepare Chicken breast

  • Season chicken with salt and pepper
  • Heat skillet or grill
  • Cook for 5 min on each side
  • Slice chicken into strips.

Next, add salt and pepper to the fluffed quinoa and stir. Then mix in the tomato, cilantro, arugula, and avocado. Dish the mixture into the serving bowls. Then top with chicken, cheese, and sriracha.

Add salt and pepper as needed and enjoy!

The Sofa Struggle

Lately Megan & I have been discussing redecorating our small apartment, but we get discouraged easily. Mostly because we don’t want to spend money and we can’t decide on the same furniture. Most recently we have been trying to figure out which sofa we want. Either a more expensive one that will last longer, or a cheaper one that will give instant gratification but won’t stand the test of time. The struggle is real.

Tell us which one you like….
