    Afternoon Date at SteelCraft

    I came across this place on instagram recently (thanks social media!) and decided to surprise Adam with a date yesterday afternoon in our own hood. SteelCraft is a really cool outdoor eatery in the Bixby Knolls neighborhood of Long Beach with all of the restaurants made of shipping containers. They have everything from ramen to gourmet waffles (banana cream waffles, guys) to hawaiian shaved ice and Smog City Brewing for those of you beer lovers. There is plenty of seating and a little lawn area where you can bring a blanket and do dinner or lunch picnic style. It’s still in it’s soft opening so only a couple of places…

    Brioche French Toast

    If you ask Megan what my weakness is she would say “Sweets”. I am a sucker for anything sweet and a french toast breakfast is right up my alley. For Christmas I was given the cookbook NOPI by author Yotam Ottolenghi and Nopi head chef Ramael Scully. Yotam introduced me to this amazing brioche french toast recipe which we attempted..and I think we succeeded. Now this recipe calls for a fruit compote and a topping of orange yogurt.     Easy Quinoa Bowl

    Everyday is a new adventure for food at the Bravwel Casa. Well…mostly we just order pizza but once in a while when we’re feeling brave we decide to cook something. We had this great dish at a local restaurant in West Hollywood and figured it’s perfect for when you’re not feeling like a salad for lunch.     The other day Megan and I were starving, like usual, and we decided to throw some things together for a quick pasta lunch.     So this is our first food post and of course it’s a dessert. I mean come on, who doesn’t love a berry compote with crumble and ice cream?
